01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
At Donburi Kitchen, you can make the bowl the centre of your meal and choose what to have alongside it. Tendon comes with options including red miso soup, mini noodles or a regular serving of noodles, so you can tailor the meal to your appetite and mood.
The tempura bowls each have their own mix of toppings. The Nigiwai Tendon brings together one prawn, chicken tempura, seafood and three kinds of vegetables, making it a good choice for sampling a range of tempura. The Tokutoku Tendon features four prawns, while the Ebizukushi Tendon pairs three prawns with seafood, chicken tempura and vegetables for a prawn-focused bowl with plenty of variety. One diner singled out the crisp tempura, the red miso soup and the sauce, which can be added to taste.
There is also the option of pairing katsudon with cold noodles. One diner who ordered it with mini cold udon praised the tender pork cutlet, soft-cooked egg and rice that had absorbed plenty of broth. The thin udon, they added, had a satisfying chew and made a good accompaniment. It is a combination to consider when you want a hearty bowl with something cool on the side.
For a noodle-led meal, try soba or udon with tempura. The Jō Ten Zaru Soba and Jō Ten Zaru Udon come with a large prawn, chicken tempura, seafood and three kinds of vegetables, offering a different way to enjoy tempura from a hot rice bowl. Whether you choose tendon or noodles with tempura, Donburi Kitchen has options for putting together a meal around what you feel like eating.
